Dick Thiel

Program Committee Chair-International Wolf Symposium, Retired Wildlife Biologist

Dick Thiel, B.S. in Natural Resources Management and Biology, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, managed the wolf recovery program (1980-1990) for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and ran a wildlife education center (1990-2011). His books include, The Timber Wolf in Wisconsin (1993), and Keepers of the Wolves, (2011, 2018), University of Wisconsin Press. He edited Wild Wolves We Have Known published by the International Wolf Center. He has also written articles about wolves, porcupines, turtles and other creatures. He continues as a volunteer and wolf educator consultant and is on the Board of Directors of the International Wolf Center.
